APD is responsible for implementing the exhibition area of 2.400m2, in the base of the Sphere, the building which will host the National Pavilion of Kazahstan -the country hosting the International Exposition-, and the exhibition area of 800 m2 about the Water Energy, located in the second level.
The company is also in charge of the design and implementation of the Spanish Pavilion at the EXPO, with a total surface of 868 m2.
ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño (APD), a subsidiary of the ACCIONA Group, has been selected by SML SEMBOL CONSTRUCTION to carry out the technical development and implementation of the exhibition area of the National Pavilion of Kazakhstan in Expo Astana 2017.
The International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana will open to the public on June 10, 2017 and will end on September 10, 2017.
The theme of EXPO 2017 ASTANA is “Future Energy” which aims to generate debate and awareness regarding energy as an inherent asset of humanity that should be used responsibly and efficiently.
The total area of Astana EXPO-2017 exhibition complex is 174 hectares. The main building of EXPO is the National Pavilion of Kazakhstan, constructed in the form of a 7-levels glass sphere laying over an organic shaped base. Each of the levels is dedicated to one of the most significant energy creation technologies. APD is responsible for implementing the first level, in the base of the Sphere, with an exhibition area of 2.400m2, which will be dedicated to Kazakhstan; and APD is also in charge of the exhibition about the Water Energy, located in the second level.
The first level is directly connected to the Expo public area, it will be divided in two main themes; one hosting the National Pavilion of Kazakhstan and other one related to the contributions of the country into the most innovative energy production technologies.
The zone of insight into Kazakhstan shows the beauty of the country nature in different seasons of the year, highlighting topics related to culture and traditions of Kazakhstan. This exhibit will consist on a huge multimedia mapping in the inside of a 45x14x7,5 m dome which will be projected using more than 50 laser projectors, the main audiovisual will be choreographed with an interactive show where visitors will learn about the famous Bayterek Myth.
In the Water Power area -of 800 m2– that APD is building, the visitors will find several techniques, from replica of Hama ancient water mill, hands-on activities for kids, to the most innovative technologies of tidal and wave energy harnessing the importance and potential of water as a source of energy of the future.
ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño will also be responsible for the design and implementation of the pavilion that will represent Spain at the 2017 Astana International Expo (Kazakhstan).
The Spanish Pavilion will have a total surface of 868 m2 presenting the present and future of Spain’s exploitation of its renewable resources, in addition to the need to treat the planet and its energy sources in a responsible and sustainable manner. The design and execution of the Pavilion will include immersive, sensorial and synchronized audio-visual productions.
2017 Astana Expo
The 2017 Astana International Exposition, with the theme Future Energy, expects to bring together, between the 10th of June and the 10th of September, 130 official participants: 112 Nations and 18 International Organisations, and attract more than 3 million visitors.
Around ten energy-related international organisations will take part in this International Exposition, such as the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the United Nations’ Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) or the World Bank.
The Expo commemorates the 20th anniversary of the election of Astana as the new capital (the word means capital in Kazakh) at the expense of Almaty.
Located in the centre of the country, the city has grown from its 200.000 inhabitants in 1997 to more than 850.000 today. After the Expo, it is expected that the site will host the largest financial centre in Central Asia together with the International Centre for the Development of Green Technologies under the auspices of the UN.
